Social Roles and Wellbeing: Participant Information

You are invited to take part in a new study to explore the ways in which the social roles we occupy influence our psychological wellbeing. Our traditional gender stereotypes (i.e. men as “breadwinners” and women as “homemakers”) don’t match up to the diverse roles fulfilled by modern men and women. Gender is a powerful determinant of our behaviour and beliefs about the characteristics and behaviour of others. This has implications for the ways in which men and women in diverse social roles perceive themselves, as well as the ways in which we perceive and evaluate others. This, in turn, has implications for psychological wellbeing. So far, however, there has not been a systematic investigation of the effects of non-traditional gender role occupation by men and women on psychological well-being, or the psychological and social processes that may buffer these relationships. The purpose of this study is to explore these relationships.
I am looking for male and female participants who can spend approximately 15 minutes completing a questionnaire deigned to assess social role occupation and some psychological variables (e.g. self esteem).
You must be 18 years or over to participate in this experiment
